This website — a static site built with Astro, served by Caddy with automatic TLS.
What it is
My personal site: a place for technical writing, project notes and the occasional experiment. It is deliberately small — static HTML generated from Markdown, served from a directory.
Why it exists
I wanted somewhere to write that didn’t require running a CMS or a database just to publish a post. Content as files in a repository, built into static output, is the right amount of machinery for the problem.
How it works
- Content lives as Markdown/MDX under
src/content/, validated against a typed schema at build time. - Astro renders it to static HTML with build-time syntax highlighting and heading anchors.
- Diagrams are authored as Mermaid and rendered client-side.
- Caddy serves the output directory and manages certificates via Let’s Encrypt.
- Deploys are an rsync of the build output.
Notes
- Drafts are excluded from builds, the feed and the sitemap, so work-in-progress can live in the repo.
- The writing pipeline is documented in How this site is built.
Status
Active. The site is live; the content is the part that keeps changing.
